Gaia is the Primordial Goddess of the Earth, the wife of Ouranos, and the mother of Kronos. Demeter believes she is the first Fertility Goddess.

Appearance[]

Gaia is a large deity with turquoise green skin, which appears to have rivers running across it, and long, multicolored hair with a leafy texture (similar to Persephone's when she overuses her powers). Under unknown circumstances, her eyes can become burnt orange with three red, circular pupils in each eye.

Gaia wears a long, bronze-colored wrap dress around her body.

History[]

Gaia has been mentioned several times by others within the story, particularly as part of various exclamations. The first time her name is first used in this fashion is in Episode 9 by Hades, when he says, "Oh Gaia, not now."

Gaia is directly referenced by Kronos in Episode 25. He asks Rhea if she remembers what Gaia said about Hades, citing her prophecy that he would overthrow Kronos.

Gaia is first pictured in a flashback during Episode 145. Demeter explains that Gaia, the first Earth Goddess, was used by Ouranos as a power source to become ruler of the Gods. She further explains that he was able to do this because Gaia was a fertility goddess.

Gaia is spoken of by Metis in a flashback during Episode 229. Metis explains that Gaia liked to create and was ambivalent in regard to it being for good or bad. One day, Ouranos approached Gaia and asked her to imbue him with power as he had come up with a new concept: hierarchy. Gaia accepted but mainly because she was also a romantic and decided that she was in love with Ouranos. Her father, Hydros, told her that love was a stupid notion and that she is foolish for helping Ouranos. Gaia was offended and wanted to prove Hydros wrong, so she opened herself up to Ouranos and let him take what he needed. Unfortunately for Gaia, Ouranos only took what he wanted, excessively at that, which resulted in Gaia feeling pain for the first time. Gaia unknowingly created a line of fertility goddesses doomed to hold up the lineage of Ouranos.

Personality[]

According to Metis, Gaia liked to create and regardless of the good or bad of it. It was also revealed that Gaia was something of a romantic and easily fell for Ouranos despite the obvious power-hungry intentions he had; through this and her interaction with her creator Hydros, she also seems to also possess a stubborn streak. Though she loved Ouranos, she was nothing more than a pawn to him as he took advantage of her power so much, she was in pain for the first time.

Relationship[]

Gaia's relationship is rarely mentioned. Hydros was the creator and Ouranos was the husband.

Powers and Abilities[]

Creation: Being a fertility goddess, Gaia possesses the ability to easily create and empower living things. Consequentially, she is able to allow beings (namely Ouranos) to use her raw power to become more powerful in turn, to the point of said beings reaching more divine states.
