Well, I'm here for you.
― Daphne, Ep 109

Daphne is a flower nymph from the Mortal Realm. Currently, on Olympus, she works as a fashion model and yoga instructor. She is also the roommate of Echo and girlfriend of Thanatos.

Appearance[]

Daphne is a nymph with hot pink skin and long hair. Her skin has blotches of blue. She has large, pointed ears.

While on Olympus, Daphne wears a variety of modern clothing, favoring the color white. In the Mortal Realm, Daphne wears a white stola and white flower accessories in her hair.

Personality[]

Daphne is kind and understanding. She has a bubbly personality and gets along well with others. She quickly warms up to strangers and makes them feel comfortable in her presence. Although she appears a bit naïve and was unaware that Apollo was helping Thanatos to hurt Persephone, she deeply cares about those around her and always has a kind word for those who have been hurt. She also tries to ignore the rumors around Olympus and looks for the best in people's intentions.

She has also shown an angry side such as when Thanatos stated how Persephone being from the mortal realm meant she was dumb, unaware Daphne was from the mortal realm as well. Although he tried apologizing, she was unimpressed but was willing to give him a second chance by offering her number to him so he could call her when he got his life together. Thanatos would do just that and with her influence, he starts to change the error of his ways and tries to improve himself.

Background[]

Daphne lived and worked under Demeter in the Mortal Realm alongside other flower nymphs. She often accompanied Persephone, acting as one of her handmaidens, and the two were close friends. Eventually, Daphne left the Mortal Realm to live on Olympus, where she began a career as a model. She has seen success, with a large following on an Instagram-like site and modeling for popular brands like Pomegranate. She would also meet Echo and the two would become close friends and roommates.

She and Thanatos hang out together without Apollo noticing she left him for the God of Death. Daphne finds this statement offensive and reminds Thanatos that she was also born in the mortal realm. Thanatos tries to defend himself by saying Daphne was different from Persephone. He says that Persephone does nothing but get special treatment from Hades. Daphne then countered by asking why he cares about Persephone getting special treatment. She understands receiving special treatment is not best in a professional setting. Daphne has a hard time understanding why Persephone receiving special treatment bother him so much. When he asks her why she's so interested, she reminds him that she's a Flower Nymph and as such, she is not only a rare type of nymphs, but her life may not be as long-lived as other nymphs since her life is tied to flowering plants that grow on sacred land. He is distraught over hearing this and perhaps even forgot that this was the case for Flower Nymphs such as herself. She ensures her that she's fine and was just curious.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Daphne has the ability to spontaneously create laurel wreaths.[1]
  • In Episode 171, Daphne transforms herself into a tree to hibernate and protect herself from Apollo. It would seem she is unable to be harmed in this state as long as she makes it to Demeter's sacred ground. She reveals the only one who can undo the transformation is Demeter.

Trivia[]

  • In Greek mythology, she is a minor figure and a naiad, a variety of female nymph associated with fountains, wells, springs, streams, brooks and other bodies of fresh water. She is known for becoming the unwilling object of the infatuation of Apollo, who chased her against her wishes. [2] In Lore Olympus, however, Persephone calls her a flower nymph.
  • Although it has not been confirmed, it is most likely she was created by Demeter as she worked and lived in the Mortal Realm for many years and knew all the other flower nymphs that worked on the land. This could explain why Daphne believed only Demeter could reverse her transformation after escaping from Apollo.
    • As Demeter was banished for 10 years, t's revealed Persephone was the one to reverse her transformation instead.
